I already have more confidence!

I'm starting to get my confidence back with my singing although I didn't get to practice as often as I'd like. I basically practice in the car or here and there around the house but it works little or alot.

It's amazing because when I was in High School and has some leads in the plays...in my audition they liked the tone of my voice but I had a hard time projecting and there were no wireless mic's then. I felt horrible like nobody could hear me so I pushed my voice and it cracked a bit and I was going in and out of two totally different voices just to get through the song. Oh I must burn that Video tape!!!

I am hoping that soon I will have some time alone(which never happens) to videotape myself and show you how my voice is coming along.

If I can get my voice to be in one piece, strong and flexible by the end of the program...I may just ask permission to give lessons based on Brett's program.

I want to help others like myself who knew they could sing but just weren't able to get the voice that they knew they had inside...OUT! Especially when nerves kick in. Then I sounded like I couldn't sing at all. I don't want that to ever happen again!!! I want chops! I want to be able to sing jumping up and down, in any weather and through any cold.

I'm going to do it!!! Just you wait and see!
I have too!

If you haven't checked out my link to this program please do. They have lots of videos and a free lesson that you can try for yourself.

Hope is not lost singers! I think anyone could sing with this method and I think all American Idol contestants should buy this program immediately!

Come On! Let's blow Simon away!

A great side Affect to this singing program!

Along with my voice improving I have also reaped some benefits in my speaking voice.

Although I didn't get to practice or sing today...I did read books to my 3 year old boy for two hours straight!!! Usually I am hurting after 3 short stories and today I read 20 small books...yes you read it right! 20 books!

I realized that I was reading in a different way! I was aiming my speaking voice up toward the soft palate and reading in a higher nasally voice which I never had so I'm glad I could find my nasally voice.

My speaking voice had more stamina because this program is based on a speech level approach.

So...It's helped me in more than one way which is great!!!

If you haven't taken a look at this program yet...please do. I am telling you this is the last set of voice lessons you will ever need to create your authentic voice and have a voice with no breaks in the registers. I haven't quite gotten there yet but I can tell that if I keep on practicing that it will happen!

DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY YEARS I HAVE WAITED TO DISCOVER MY TRUE VOICE!?

To be able to sing through my breaks will be so amazing! I will have to re-sing all of the songs I tried to sing in the past and couldn't get through thee whole song without altering it in some way.

My husband would always say "I've never heard you sing a whole song all the way through!"

Well...I had plenty of times but I didn't know him then but I know what he means. I would start a song and then say...no that's too low...no that's too high etc. I still do that at this point but it is getting better!

More to come on some of my horrible past vocal lesson experiences...

I'm getting excited!

I've just been putting the CD's of my new Singing Success package in the car as I drive my little boy to pre-school which is about 20 minutes to 20 minutes on the way back. I've really onlybeen doing this two days a week maybe practicing here and there in the house and I'm really excited!
My voice seems stronger and clearer already!

I used to have such a hard time singing those sing-talky songs in theatre and now it's finally clicking. This method is based on speech level singing which I have tried before but for some reason now it is really working!

Now I want to go back and try all those songs that just sounded like they were falling to the floor on the low parts and only would come together on the chorus.

The good thing is that this doesn't take much time to do and you can really practice it anywhere.

Now...singing and videotaping myself is a different story altogether! My kids just won't allow that! But I will get some videos up in the future so you can hear the difference.

Well...that's all for now.
Happy Singing!

Brett Mannings Singing Success CD's

All I can say is WOW! I've been vocalizing with Brett Mannings CD's and I can already feel a difference. On one of the exercises I reached a high E and it was a clear mix of chest and head which is what you need to use in singing popular music. Of course my teachers would have shunned that idea but if you heard them sing you wouldn't care because they sang lightly and mostly in their head voice and not very well at a certain reputable college.

I don't have much time to write today for I have alot of things to get ready for Easter but I will be back!

Have a nice Easter if you celebrate it.

Singing...my personal Journey Part 1

I know you've heard this line before but...I was singing since I was about two not professionally but I was always drawn to singing and started singing before I spoke.

I remember my first moment of singing recognition and it was in Kindergarten. My teacher Mrs. Burns had us all singing and after we stopped and some children couldn't catch on to the melody she said "Listen to how Jennifer sings it" and then she had me sing for them.

Although I was scared...I did it and I never forgot that feeling. I felt special like I had a special skill for singing and I didn't even realize it. I thought everyone could sing in tune.

I believe at that time I was watching Lawrence Welk and the Donny & Marie Osmond show before bedtime which was something I looked forward to all day! It wasn't playing dolls or playing house...definately not playing house in fact I despised that! I would sing along with Donny & Marie and try to emulate them at a very young age. This was good and bad in ways.

It's good to be able to emulate someones tone and style but one shouldn't get stuck there for they will never find their own voice.

Anyway, by the third grade we had an assignment of creating a poster about what we wanted to be when we grew up. Without hesitation I started cutting out pictures of Donny and Marie and pasted them on a paper and wrote "I want to be a famous singer" and having way more confidence and less modesty than I do now I also wrote "I already sing like Marie Osmond anyway."

Can you believe the "balls" it took for me to brag about myself at such a young age 0f 8 and have it hanging up on the wall in school? Maybe it was because there were no dream crushers in my path as of yet...

But...you would never find me posting that statement anywhere at my age for there would be a sea of people standing at my door to disprove it in a minute.

I can tell you that I have a long way to go to regain my singing confidence but I know that deep inside this is what I love to do and I want to do it. I feel such a happiness and such a release of my soul when I sing. It is part of who I am and it was evident from a young age. That's the first thing I was ever passionate about and if you've ever been through career counseling you know that they ask you to try to remember what you naturally had an interest in at a young age.

SINGING! SINGING! SINGING! That's all I ever loved to do!

The story will continue soon...come back and visit me!

Welcome to the Singing Cafe!

Welcome everyone!
Grab a cup of coffee, tea or any drink of your preference and join me here in the Singing Cafe!
This is a blog that is not totally defined yet but will basically be a story about my trials and tribulations of trying to do what I love most which is singing.

I will also share my progress with a new program that I am trying which I think may be the answer to all of my vocal problems!

I'd love to hear others stories and even interview them and ask them questions about their journey along their singing path.
Let us share our pains of doing what we love the most and try to solve some vocal problems.

I am not a certified teacher but I did attend a popular music school in Boston and have lots of different vocal teachers.

I am still on my journey to finding my real voice and regaining my confidence with singing again.
Feel free to post questions here or share a story of your own.
